Analysis: Saw II

In my production I intend to make particular use of the mise-en-scene that was used in this text. Particularly the yellow and green colours and 'grimey' sets. This will fit with the conventions of a dystopian thriller because the setting is supposed to look abandoned and the mise-en-scene in the Saw II opening connotes this well. On the other hand, I would like to make the pace of my production slower than that of Saw because Saw is Horror movie and I am planning to create a thriller which is a genre that is quite closely related to horror but is conventionally slower paced and I plan to follow this convention

  1. You write well on sound and character types, as well as some well known theorists. I feel that there is some more you could do. Targets: proof read carefully for SPG eg, Todorov!; when you say the scene is all fast paced - is it really? Check the length of shots and support with facts and figures; comment further on mise en scene e.g. do you see Jigsaw's mask on the screen? If so, you can comment on that, as well as the performance of the victim; where have you got that specific target audience demographic from? Justify your comments; break up this whole text with screen grabs and add in the link to the opening of the film; comment on iconography.
